Travel Bug

If you know me well at all, you know I have a love for travel(that might be an understatement).  Year round, it's not surprising to find me researching different countries, cultures, and flights (ha).  That travel bug usually gets a little worse in the Spring and Summer.  This week we are headed to the lake with my family, so hopefully that will temporarily cure my ailment.  I'm going to be in and out of the blog this week, so for now I'm going to leave you with destinations that are all on my top ten list:
1. Austria

2. Morocco

3. Greece

4. Scandinavia (Sweden & Norway)

5. Croatia

Crates

A lot of you have asked me about where I found my vintage crates......and I know craigslist can be a disappointing answer.  Although I will say craigslist requires patience and persistence when searching for something specific, I also know sometimes what you're looking for isn't out there at the time.  The other option that I wanted to mention is going to your local craft store and buying new crates and then aging them yourself to make them look vintage.  I know everyone wants the charm of the real deal, but it's at least another option.  Just promise me you won't spend the $130 + dollars per crate that a lot of retail stores are asking....ridiculous.  I love all the ways crates are used in these images:

Friday Wrap-up

This bedroom is perfection in my book, yes?  Happy Friday everyone- here's some of my favorites from this week!
~
  • Emily Henderson's "10 Do's and Dont's to Flower Arranging"
  • This adorable DIY dog house (sorry Geronimo, but I'm thinking maybe a playhouse for Reese)
  • This nail color
  • 7 DIY Modern Pillows
  • Loving this pastel pipework coat rack
  • After being on the search for a cheap, cute, AND large picnic/beach blanket (all spring and summer long), I think I've finally found one here in the form of a rug.  Obviously not waterproof, but for the price I can deal with a "good weather only" blanket.  Thoughts?

Chair Musings

Red and I have only bought a few pieces of furniture brand new during our six years of marriage.....the thinking was that with all of our moves it would be wise to wait (eight moves later and I'm glad we did).  Our next move is probably going to be more permanent though, and we have been talking about buying a kitchen table and chairs....it's all talk right now, things could change.  If we do, I have no idea what type of table we would like, but I do know that I want our inspiration to start with the dining chairs (rather than the table) just because I love chairs THAT much.  I really like the idea of mixing and matching seating and then choosing the table based on whatever chairs we choose.  Here are some of my current favorites....none of which are cheap, but the joy of mixing is that you don't have to buy a set.

Scenes from Montreal

We had such a wonderful getaway in Montreal.  Traveling is such a passion of mine that it was nice to know that it is doable with a baby.  Don't get me wrong- it definitely required more planning, but it was so worth it!  We stayed in historic downtown Montreal, and I'm so glad we did.  I fell in love with the French cafes and cobblestone streets.  Notre Dame Basilica was breathtaking...a definite must in my book if you ever chance to visit Montreal.

Dot It

I have been a little late to jump on the polka dot trend.......I blame it on a particular dress I wore all the time as a kid with large (and I mean large) polka dots, puffed sleeves, and complete with tulle underneath the skirt.  I was one proud polka dot poofy mess.  It may have taken a while, but I'm now a fan thanks to images like the ones below:
